Fielders worked in collaboration with architecture firm, YWS, and builder, Brookfield Multiplex, on the $750 million, 500 room expansion of the Crown Towers Perth, which saw the complex become the first 6-star hotel in Western Australia.

Constructed from late 2014 until late 2016, Fielders were commissioned to supply the building with 20,000m2 of KingFlor® KF70® steel formwork, which was used for its lightweight large span profiles to complement the significant flooring dimensions of each level.

A state-of-the-art development, the complex was designed to transform the Crown Towers into a premium tourist destination for Perth visitors and to bring the hotel’s total capacity to 1200 rooms, while also certifying it the largest hotel complex in Perth.

The project extension additionally offers numerous dining and retail options, full-service spa and fitness centre, a business centre, a large convention and meeting complex, multi-tiered pool and private gaming salons. Fielders’ National Commercialisation Manager – CIA, Nathan Jack, says KingFlor® KF70® is a perfect solution for extensive projects of this nature.

“KingFlor® KF70® is an incredible solution for large-scale projects such as Crown Towers, with the product’s framework offering longer spans, a deeper profile and an easy, efficient installation process – the essential flooring elements for this type of construction,” said Mr Jack. KingFlor® KF70® has also been recognised for its profound strength and ability to reduce construction time and costs due to savings on concrete required, supporting framework and foundation load costs.

Mr Jack added that one of the other major benefits of using Fielders KingFlor® KF70®, and which sets it apart from other formwork solutions on the market, is the ability to install the sheets within small and restricted spaces.

Due to the restricted space for installation, contractors on the Crown Towers Perth development were able to lay the KF70® sheeting from the underside of the platform and then crimp the sheets once the area above was clear.

“Fielders KingFlor® solution has seen increased market demand within an industry looking to constantly evolve and streamline the construction process. KF70® meets these industry requirements,” Mr Jack finished.

KingFlor® KF70® is a ground-breaking steel framework solution that includes longer span capacity and greater composite strength than existing formwork systems on the market.
