The redevelopment of Narellan Town Centre features MetecnoInspire® insulated wall panelling made from COLORBOND® steel.

Project Background

Situated in the expanding greater south-western Sydney region, the Narellan Town Centre has undergone a remarkable transformation. The $200 million mixed-use redevelopment project aimed to create a vibrant community hub and redefine the local landscape with its modern design and dynamic spaces.

Design Intent

The stunning façade was specified in MetecnoPIR's MetecnoInspire® Satinline in three COLORBOND® steel colours - Monument®, Shale Grey™ and Surfmist®. The design intent for the architectural façade was to give the Narellan Town Centre a modern expression with clean lines and restrained articulation. The sweeping form of the façade serves to create a gateway that embraces the shopping centre, restaurant precinct and civic space.

Benefits

The project builders, Mainbrace Constructions, explained that MetecnoInspire® was easy to construct and fast to install, while also being cost-effective. They highlighted it was quicker to install compared to comparative composite facades, and the panels required minimal structural support with little to no fabrication before placement on the wall. This helped to achieve faster install times and lower labour costs.

MetecnoInspire® provides excellent thermal properties and features a unique hidden-fix system that conceals fasteners, which results in a flush and aesthetically pleasing finish.

The inspiring palette of COLORBOND® steel colours was enduring and respectful to the surrounding urban environment and helped to rejuvenate Narellan as a new town centre.

Outcome

MetecnoInspire® wall panelling proved to be an ideal solution for the project’s façade. The resulting design effect is both aesthetically inviting and functional. The inspiring colour palette and durable COLORBOND® steel finish, along with the efficient installation process, all contributed to the success of the project.

Today, the Narellan Town Centre stands as a fresh and exciting shopping centre and entertainment hub for the Narellan community. With over 180 specialty stores, restaurants and entertainment options, the redevelopment has become a dynamic and inviting space for the community to enjoy.
