Fielders collaborated with Synergy Constructions and PT Design to deliver its renowned integrated steel flooring solution to 115 King William Street – a 23-storey office tower in the heart of the Adelaide CBD.

The project began in August 2015, and completed in late 2016, with the building opened to tenants in November 2016. As the fourth tallest building in Adelaide, the towering structure is a striking and prominent addition to the busy city street.

The building boasts open-planned and light-filled office spaces throughout, and is surrounded by everything the CBD has to offer, including up-scale restaurants, Adelaide’s key shopping precinct, Rundle Mall, and all four major banks.

Synergy Constructions contracted Fielders to supply a total of 6,100m of the SlimFlor® steel formwork system, which was installed throughout each floor of the 23-storey structure.

SlimFlor® was chosen for its ability to provide a long-spanning, cost-effective integrated steel flooring system and a design that permits the effective use of universal beam sections.

To provide a floor system with a reduced construction zone, SlimFlor® utilises Fielders KingFlor® CF210® flooring profile in conjunction with Asymmetric Steel Beam Sections (ASB).

The steel formwork combines the floor slab and supporting structure in the same plane, providing a lightweight, versatile, and long-spanning floor system, effectively streamlining the construction process and providing the best possible flooring system for the 86-metre high tower.

Fielders’ National Commercialisation Manager, Nathan Jack, commends the KingFlor® flooring profile as a perfect solution for large-scale multi-storey projects of this nature.

“SlimFlor® is an incredible solution for significant projects such as 115 King William Street,” said Mr Jack. “The product’s framework offers longer spans, a deeper profile that results in an easy and efficient installation process.”

“In short, the product offers all of the essential flooring elements required for this type of construction.”

Mr Jack added that one of the major benefits that SlimFlor® holds is the faster construction time and reduced associated costs; a factor that sets KingFlor® apart from other solutions on the market.

Each of the five profiles in Fielders KingFlor® range has been developed to provide the most optimal flooring solution on the market.

The range includes two trapezoidal profiles, two re-entrant profiles and a deep deck profile. It is Australia’s largest range of composite steel formwork, with the longest spans and deepest profiles on the market.
