Project overview
As part of the Victorian State Government railway upgrade, the level crossing at Rosanna Station was removed, making way for the construction of a new station featuring elevated platforms and improved facilities.
Challenges
The new railway platform was built beside residential apartments and required an acoustic wall to minimise the noise from railway traffic. Being in close proximity to a multi-residential development, it was also required to be a non-combustible cladding system.
To ensure noise regulations were adhered to, the panel component of the wall system needed an Rw rating of 31.
In addition to providing acoustic performance, the wall needed to visually blend in with existing feature screening used throughout the train station’s design.
Solution
ASKIN Performance Panels manufactured and installed Vivid Volcore panel in COLORBOND® steel Monument® in a Classic finish with a Seamless profile.
ASKIN Limitless Solution came with a custom designed multi-coloured rib system to attach to the Volcore panel to match the existing screening and roofing while ensuring no effect to the acoustic performance of the panel.
Benefits of ASKIN Volcore acoustic wall panels:
- Effective for any noise reduction application including residential apartments, large warehouse sectors, and loud noise polluters like railways and train stations
- Multiple colour and design options
- Quick and easy to install
- Non-combustible cladding system
Result
Victoria’s Rosanna Train Station is now open and includes an acoustic wall separating nearby housing from train station noise whilst blending in aesthetically. The new station is part of the $395 million Hurstbridge Rail Line Upgrade. With the increased addition of transportation hubs and rail stations across the country, the need for acoustic walls with high fire performance core is vital for protecting the environment and keeping the peace within local communities.
