Our Lady of Mercy College

Our Lady of Mercy College

ASKIN Performance Panels manufactured and installed a combination of XFLAM and Volcore external façade panel in Seamless profile for Our Lady of Mercy College.

The Project

Our Lady of Mercy College required a new multi-purpose sports hall. Designed by award-winning education architects ClarkeHopkinsClarke, the centre was to include multipurpose indoor and outdoor courts, classrooms, staff offices, change facilities and an overall seating capacity of 1300.

The Challenge

The challenge for this project was the sports hall shared a common wall with a supermarket next door. To meet the Australian Building Code, a boundary wall is required to have a two-hour fire rating if within three metres of a neighbouring property. Not only that, the façade needed to reflect the college branding.

Solutions

To overcome these challenges, ASKIN Performance Panels manufactured and installed a combination of XFLAM and Volcore external façade panel in Seamless profile. ASKIN panel was selected not only because it was an excellent solution with having a two-hour fire rating, but also solved the problem of having to use heavy, pre-cast concrete, therefore making it easier, more time efficient and more cost efficient to install.

Furthermore, the ASKIN pre-finished exterior façade panel was manufactured in both COLORBOND® steel Custom colours Clay Pot and Thredbo White®, and COLORBOND® steel core colours Deep Ocean® and Classic Cream™ in a Classic finish, to match the school’s brand.

Result

The result for Our Lady of Mercy College was not only a functional space but an aesthetically pleasing building that complements the city landscape and the school colours. The College is now making full use of their recently completed community centre, enjoying everything from netball to boxing, badminton and yoga.
