Lifetime Achievement Award Winners

David Baggs

David Baggs is a recognised authority in sustainability and has provided leadership within the industry for more than 45 years. He is the CEO and Program Director at Global GreenTag International and is a Life Fellow at the Australian Institute of Architects. Throughout his career, David has been deeply involved in sustainability education, advocacy, and fostering professional excellence in design at a whole-of-profession level and with world-leading outcomes. Using his extensive architectural, scientific, and sustainability expertise, he has developed industry-wide tools and educational resources for environmentally conscious architects, designers, and other professionals.

David's commitment to advancing sustainability in Australia is evident through his teaching at UNSW, where he has delivered annual addresses to Architecture students for over a decade. Additionally, he has shared his insights through lectures at Griffith University, Murdoch University, University of Technology Sydney, and University of Western Sydney. Moreover, David has reached hundreds of architects and designers through his Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses, as well as numerous public talks, seminars, peer-reviewed papers, and panel presentations at various universities, conferences, expos, and online platforms.

Dick Clarke

Dick Clarke has left an enduring mark on sustainable design and construction practices in Australia. Principal of Envirotecture, Dick is not only a respected building designer specialising in ecologically sustainable and culturally appropriate buildings, but he has also held other influential roles throughout his decades of experience.

He has been a regular judge for industry awards, including the Sustainability Awards, BPN Sustainability Awards, AWA (Australian Window Association) Design Awards and the Clean Energy Council awards.

With his keen focus on sustainability, Dick has held positions such as Director of Sustainability and Past President of the NSW Chapter of Building Designers Australia (BDA). He is also a Past President and Board Member of the Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA). Dick has represented BDA on the NatHERS to AccuRate upgrade (Technical Advisory) committee and the BASIX Reference Group in NSW. He delivers seminars and workshops on sustainable design and building practices to industry bodies, business and local government.

Dick's editorial contributions have been invaluable resources for professionals and homeowners alike. As a founding author and editor of the acclaimed Australian Government’s Your Home series and editor of How to Rethink Building Materials, Dick continues to influence the discourse in the sustainability field.
