Target Head Office

Target Head Office

ASKIN's Volcore mineral wool panel provides a complete building solution for Target’s new head office in West Melbourne.

The Project:

Target Australia moved its national headquarters to Williams Landing in West Melbourne. The new building consists of 12,600 square metre office space over eight levels and catering for 850 employees. Hacer Group was awarded the building contract.

Challenge:

The challenge for the builder and architect was sourcing a façade panel product that not only gave the look Target was after but conformed to the NCC and the relevant building codes. In the beginning stages of this project, a non-ASKIN panel product was specified however, did not conform with the recent, more rigid restrictions on materials and external cladding products. An alternate façade product was required, and ASKIN was able to provide that solution.

Solution:

ASKIN were recommended to the architect due to their extensive range of panel products suitable for a range of construction purposes. As a result, 3500m2 of Volcore Vivid Panel was supplied (Silkline profile; in COLORBOND® steel  in the Custom colour Thredbo White® in a Classic finish and COLORBOND steel Dune® in a Matt finish).

The Volcore Vivid Panel was able to satisfy the architect and building surveyors requirements for combustibility and meet all the performance requirements of the NCC.

The key benefits of using ASKIN’S Volcore panel are its structural performance, weather tightness, thermal values and non-combustibility, all in compliance with the NCC for Type A and B construction

Result:

ASKIN were able to provide a compliant and non-combustibility panel product, while still giving Target their desired finish. The result is a fully compliant building product meeting the NCC and other relevant building codes.
