BlueScope has published an informative flyer about the Green Star™ Responsible Products Framework. It simplifies the program, guiding stakeholders on how they may earn Green Star points by using BlueScope products.

Download the flyer: Green Star Responsible Products Framework - Earning Green Star points with BlueScope products

The Green Star Responsible Products Framework recognises initiatives that a product or manufacturer can comply with to contribute towards a Green Star certification. Products may contribute to a project’s Green Star rating by earning Responsible Products credits, provided proof of certification is included in the Green Star submission.

A Responsible Product Value (RPV) is the ‘score’ given to an initiative after an assessment against the Responsible Products Guidelines. A product that has been awarded an RPV by the Green Building Council of Australia through a recognised certification initiative is called a 'Responsible Product.'

There are several initiatives recognised by Green Star that may be applicable to BlueScope products. These include:

  • ResponsibleSteel™ site certification
  • Global GreenTagCert™ GreenRate™ certification
  • Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)
  • Steel Sustainability Australia

The guide highlights how users may earn Green Star points with BlueScope products. For instance, all BlueScope products made from steel produced at the Port Kembla Steelworks, a ResponsibleSteel™ certified site, are considered 'Good Practice’. When combined with an EPD and/or Global GreenTagCert™ GreenRate™ certification, the products are considered 'Best Practice'. An easy-to-follow visual example is provided which equates to an RPV of 21 for BlueScope’s ‘Best Practice’ products.

The flyer is a useful resource, simplifying the information and guiding users through the process of earning Green Star points with ease.
